CD & Power Named One of the Best Places to Work in the Bay Area

Martinez, CA – April 19, 2018 – CD & Power is proud to be listed as one of the Best Places to Work in the Bay Area, by the San Francisco Business Times, the Silicon Valley Business Journal, and Quantum Workplace, who co-produced a recent in-depth study. “We know our job is never done when it comes to investing in our people,” explains Jill Collaro, President. “We’re honored to have won workplace recognition in recent years, which motivates us to keep stepping up our game!”

This year, Jill and the CD & Power management team decided to make two significant investments of time and resources into the careers and well-being of their employees. One they have affectionately named “Tall Bald Guy University” or TBGU for short, in honor of company founder Chuck Uischner. “We’ve continued to prioritize training and development because we saw how well it worked for our dad, frankly,” explained Don Uischner, company Vice President and Jill’s brother. “It has been the cornerstone of a positive culture and our ability to deliver great service. TBGU is our way of formalizing this commitment to our employees.” Jill elaborates, “we developed a curriculum, are inspiring our employees to pursue more skills, and are rewarding them with a company-paid trip when they complete their course of study.”

The second program introduced by the company in 2018 is the opportunity for employees to regularly meet with a “dream manager” to help them set and achieve goals in their lives that they choose. This initiative is near and dear to CD & Power General Manager, Lisa Carter. “I benefited from a great mentor, my father, as I gained more responsibility and was given the opportunity to help grow this company. We wanted to extend a similar offer to our employees – outside inspiration to reach for their dreams along with guidance and accountability to make progress toward those objectives,” describes Lisa. The first employees to pursue the opportunity have now met several times with an outside consultant – the designated dream manager – and are making progress toward their goals.
